Obituary for Mrs. Doris Kapush (Fummerton)

DORIS ELAINE KAPUSH

FEBRUARY 5, 1932 – AUGUST 29, 2022

We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Doris Elaine Kapush (nee Fummerton) on August 29, 2022 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin Kapush in 2004 and daughter Rosanne Kapush in 1990.

She is survived by her children; Beverly (Don), Larry (Alice), Barry (Debbie), Shelby (Pat), Judy (Ritchie), and Wisha.

After leading a long, full life, a very special person has left us, but she has taught us well and given us many gifts. Doris led by example, always sharing her skills, knowledge, gratitude, warmth, kindness, and love. Always so much love!

Doris faced life with a positive attitude and a beautiful smile, even when things weren't easy. With seven children, sometimes things weren't easy! She always made the best of every situation by practicing kindness, hard work, and perseverance.

Doris loved family. She took great joy in tallying up her seven children, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. For decades, she and Ed were the generous hosts of large, raucous, present and food-filled Christmas gatherings, which were the yearly highlight of all their grandchildren.

Doris loved to travel, whether on a Sunday drive to get coffee with Ed, or on bigger trips to Cuba and Florida, often joined by other family members. She was always eager to pick up a souvenir or two on her journeys, as evidenced by her extensive spoon collection!

Doris loved gardening, berry picking, soaking up the summer sun, and crocheting. Almost every family member has one of her beautiful blankets.

She was an animal lover who cared deeply for the many cats, dogs, and farm animals she had over the years. She always took care to feed the wild birds and squirrels outside her window.

She was a master baker of pies and cakes. Nothing would make her kids run up the driveway faster than the aroma of her cinnamon buns as they got off the school bus. Any meal Doris made tasted delicious, probably because her special ingredient was love.

Doris' taste in music was eclectic and extensive. Her collection of cassettes ranged from polkas to classical to country, to swing, and she loved singing along. At Roseview where she lived the last year, she was the most enthusiastic participant whenever musical performances were given. Her clapping and singing often made her the real star of the show!

Graveside services for the late Doris Kapush will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 3, 2022 with family and friends meeting at the main gate of Sunset Memorial Gardens – 3200 Oliver Road. Following interment, a celebration of Doris' life will be held at the family home.

If friends so desire, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

We'll all cherish our very special memories of our mom, gramma, and big gramma, as time goes by.
We will miss her dearly and always hold her oh-so-close in our hearts forever.

Love your family
