Obituary for Mrs. Irene Taimi Loukola
Mrs. Irene Loukola, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, on her 73rd birthday.
Irene was born in Thunder Bay and was raised in Nolalu. She was one of seven children born to Urho and Taimi Hovi. Irene took great pride in her work as a hair stylist where she enjoyed chatting with her clients, many of whom she called friends. Most of her career she worked at The Continental and she capped off her time behind the chair at The Bon-Ton prior to her retirement. A loving woman, Irene kept a simple life. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and knitting and spending her time with her cat Dusty. Her sense of humour stood out. If she teased you, she loved you. She was a member of a few coffee groups and she enjoyed this social time with friends.
She is survived by her son, David, his wife Crystal and grandchildren Kayla and Parker; siblings, Melvin (Mai), Helvi (Bill), Edla (Tauno), sisters in-law Pat Hovi and Pat Hovi, as well as close friends Doreen and Debbie.
Irene is predeceased by her husband Wayne; her parents and brothers Arnold and Wilbert.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Irene's Life will be held at a later time. Interment has taken place in Mountainview Cemetery
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Kitty Kare Thunder Bay.
