Obituary for Mr. Heikki Lauri Uurainen

HEIKKI UURAINEN

It is with deep sadness that the family of Heikki Lauri Uurainen announces his unexpected passing on December 22, 2020
at the age of 74 years at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Heikki was born in Kalajoki, Finland on November 28, 1946 to
Lauri and Aura Uurainen and a short time later the family immigrated to Canada. Heikki was employed as a skilled heavy
duty mechanic for many years. Heikki was a quiet man but it was always very evident how much he loved his children and
grandchildren when he would say...."How are the kids doing or someone needs to check on the kids!" Heikki spent the
last few years of his life at Hogarth where he enjoyed the visits from his family and the birds that came to his window to
bring him some simple joy.

Heikki was predeceased by his father Lauri Uurainen, mother Aura Uurainen, and stepmother Taimi Uurainen.
Heikki is survived by his wife Donna Uurainen and mother-in-law Pearl Paul, son Gordon and daughter Corlynn (Brian);
as well as his sister Aila Hall (Winnipeg), brothers Esko Uurainen (Diane) and Hannu Uurainen (Margie).
Also survived by his cherished grandchildren Blake and Drew Uurainen (Ottawa), Chantal Petit and Brandon Dolic;
as well as several relatives in Finland and Canada. Heikki's furry family (Sly, Metso, Tazz and Trix) also brought
him so much joy.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.

The family extends much gratitude to the many support staff that cared for Heikki at St. Joseph's Hospital and
Hogarth Riverview Manor and a special thank you to Brian for all your help.

If friends so desire donations in Heikki's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice would
be appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
